Qingdao SAR center fuifills SAR tasks in 1st quarter

In the first quarter of 2015, Qingdao Search and Rescue Center completely fulfilled search and rescue (SAR) tasks as leaded by Shandong Search and Rescue Center as well as Qingdao Municiple People’s Government, through strengthening SAR capability building and promptly responsing to incidents at sea.
 
Over the past three months, Qingdao SAR center totally responsed to 7 incidents at sea and coordinated 36 rescue ships, 1 rescue helicopter as well as 4 doctors to participate in SAR operations. 6 of the 7 incidents involved fishing ships. The center assisted Korea SAR Center in response to one Korea fishing incident.
 
Given that the second quarter of a year is the duration for heavy fog at sea in Qingdao as well as the peak for fishing operation and maritime travel, which could pose a risk of incident at sea, Qingdao SAR center will endeavor to be ready for response to sudden emergencies, including enhancing coordination and cooperation with ralated units, rolling out knowledge popularizaion to merchant ship and fishing boats, popularizing knowledge on maritime safety in schools as well as providing early warning.
