Injured Foreign Seafarer Successfully Rescued

At 1340 on January 23, Qingdao Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) received a report from the agent of “TINA Ⅰ” that two fingers of a Ukrainian third engineer on board had been squeezed by heavy weights, causing serious deformation and accompanied by massive bleeding.

After receiving the report, Qingdao MRCC immediately activated the emergency plan and carried out rescue operation. On the one hand, in view of the fact that "TINA Ⅰ" had no berthing plan and the port entry had not been approved, in the spirit of caring for the crew and putting lives first, Qingdao MRCC coordinated the customs and border defense departments to offer the green channel, bringing convenience for the medical treatment of the foreign crew. On the other hand, Qingdao MRCC  assisted the agent to contact the rescue ship. In addition, they coordinated the doctors to wait in the ambulance at the dock. In the meantime,Qingdao MRCC maintained contact with the ship, guided the crew to take proper first aid measures, and asked the ship to report the condition and location of the injured in a timely manner.

Through the efficient cooperation and coordination, the injured was successfully transferred to the rescue ship and sent to the hospital for treatment in the evening.
