On the afternoon of 12 November, Rushan Branch of Weihai MSA, joining with Shanshan Port and Waterway Administration, conducted winter fire drill on board the participated passenger ship. The drill aims to take lessons from domestic and foreign passenger ship accidents and to improve emergency response capability.

 

The drill was in response to the scenario that the passenger ship XINGGAGNDU1 was on fire with passengers on board during her voyage from Xiaoqingdao to Rushankou. On receiving the emergency, Rushan Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) promptly dispatch the vessels RUGANGTUO1 and XINGGANGTUO2 to the scene for fire extinction. Due to failure of fire extinction, the passenger ship was abandoned. Another vessel RUJIAODU1 was coordinated to the scene for rescue operation. Passengers and crew on board were evacuated. After a half-an-hour operation, all persons on board were rescued.
