The Last Two Crew Members Stranded in Russia Returned Home

The last two crew members who were stranded in Russia arrived in Nanjing by a chartered plane at 19:45 on July 6, 2022. Their successful return marks that the 213-day overseas emergencies involving 12 Chinese crew members stranded in Russia have been resolved perfectly. The resolution of this incident depended on multiple efforts, which includes the strong leadership and coordination of government and maritime departments, the strong support and help of relevant enterprises, the persistence of the ship owner, etc.

At present, the Crew Management Office of Yantai MSA has conscientiously summarized the experience of handling crew overseas emergencies, and reported to Yantai Municipal Government and Shandong MSA respectively. Yantai MSA hopes to develop an early warning and emergency response mechanism for overseas crew members under the public health events as soon as possible, and defines clearly the  responsible departments.

As an important special group to ensure the smooth flow of the international maritime logistics chain, the crew contributes to the transportation power and the Belt and Road Initiative. The authority calls for strengthening the publicity and promotion of the protection of the crew. The understanding, care and love need to crew to be further stressed from all levels of governments, relevant departments and all sectors of society.
