"Haixun 11" Successfully Completed the Rescue Drill for Large Passenger Ships of Hebei MSA |
On the morning of July 22, a large-scale passenger ship rescue drill with the theme of "Protecting Maritime Safety and Building a Tourist City", hosted by Hebei MSA was held in Qinhuangdao waters. A total of 4 costal patrol vessels, 2 professional rescue boats, 1 port-working tug, 1 large passenger ship and more than 150 people including 3 professional divers participated in the drill. The drill simulated an emergency situation in which a large passenger ship "Guanhai No. 1" carrying 82 tourists and 11 crew members suffered a main engine failure during the sightseeing voyage, two tourists on board accidentally fell into the water due to panic, the passenger ship used the residual speed and rudder effect to take emergency avoidance and after taking measures, it ran aground, and the port side buoyancy tank was damaged and flooded. More than 20 emergency treatment subjects in 7 links including self-rescue of passenger ships in distress, search for persons in the water, transfer of tourists in distress, hull detection and plugging, and interception and verification of unknown ships were practiced. “Haixun 11” participated in the search and rescue of persons in the water and the simulation of the interception of unknown ships. Through this drill, "Haixun 11" further tested the effectiveness and operability of the emergency plan, improved the ability to deal with marine dangers during the tourist season in Qinhuangdao. The communication and cooperation with other departments in the mission sea area have been strengthened, and a solid foundation has been laid for the effective implementation of the follow-up missions. |
