Vessel Open Day Held by Weihai MSA

In order to further enhance the water safety awareness and skills of primary and secondary school students, as well as to promote marine and navigation culture, Weihai MSA organized “Vessel Open Day” on the morning of April 1st. More than 90 teachers, students and parents from the first grade of Experimental Primary School in Weihai Economic Development Zone participated in the activity.

 

MSA officers arranged a variety of “Maritime Open Day” for visiting teachers and students by means of explanation, interaction, visit and so on. The students joined the military training activities together with the MSA officers at the maritime work boat wharf, cultivating the students’ strict team discipline and demonstrating the strong working style of the maritime boat. After that, they watched the introduction video of Shandong MSA to understand the important functions of MSA, so that the teachers and students could have an in-depth understanding of the measures taken by MSA in ensuring maritime safety and serving local economic development.

 

Officers on boat explained the precautions for going out on the sea, demonstrated the wearing method of life jacket, introduced the function of boat signal flag, and experienced the practical knotting method and other safety knowledge and skills.

Ships carried 499.09 million tons of dangerous goods, up 33.3% year-on-year and down 1.0% month-on-month. Of these, 34.052 million tons were bulk oil, which increases 40.6% year on year. A total of 3,764 ships entered and departed on international routes, an increase of 14.6% year on year. The number of passenger arrivals and deliveries reached 1.188 million (38,000 per day), with a year-on-year growth of 107.5% and a quarter-on-quarter growth of 153.4%.
